Suzanne Bowers

Executive Director

Suzanne Bowers serves as Executive Director, bringing more than 20 years of nonprofit leadership experience to the agency. She leads MACAA’s efforts to build thriving communities across Central Virginia by supporting strategic vision, program growth, and collaborative partnerships. Suzanne is known for her compassionate leadership, commitment to equity, and deep dedication to helping people thrive through education, advocacy, and community engagement. Before joining MACAA, she served as Executive Director of Nest Academy RVA, where she guided organizational growth and strengthened partnerships to improve access to inclusive education. Prior to that, she led the Parent Educational Advocacy Training Center (PEATC) for nearly 18 years, helping thousands of Virginia families navigate educational systems and access critical support.

Suzanne holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from High Point University and a Nonprofit Management Certification from Duke University. She is deeply committed to fostering opportunity and resilience for all members of the communities MACAA serves. Outside of work, Suzanne enjoys reading, hunting, and spending time with her family and sweet dog.
