MACAA serves the Counties of Fluvanna, Louisa, and Nelson through a crisis intervention program. Several hundred households a year benefit from some form of direct service: food, clothing, housing assistance (to avoid foreclosure or eviction), fuel assistance or medical emergency.
Clients must meet eligibility requirements (125% of Federal poverty guidelines). They must be residents of the county in which they are applying for assistance. They must have a verifiable income to cover normal expenses. Clients applying for cash assistance must be able to pay a portion of the bill. Clients are eligible for cash assistance only once a year.
Clients may qualify for food assistance more often than once a year.
